Despite what fashion media or your favorite influencer* says, Americans have not had a true sartorial trend in quite some time. Sure, we have seen plenty of items and hyper-specific looks rise and fall in popularity, but a craze that threatens the very fabric of society? It’s been a few decades. Interestingly enough, this may be because the world — and the word itself —  have gotten away from us.
